This is our second studio recital devoted to our Women Composers Project. And this recital will take place in the main sanctuary of St. Paul’s Church on their newly acquired Steinway concert grand piano! This recital will not only feature unknown gems of pieces written by women throughout history but will feature work commissioned from Professor Eleanor Aversa and her composition students at Boston Conservatory who have created reductions and arrangements of historic women composers so that our youngest students can learn about these beautiful melodies and compositions! Not a single reduction of a woman’s composition exists in the learning repertoire of classical themes for beginning students, until now. Our studio and our composition student collaborators are at the forefront of women’s studies in music. This recital will also include our own student compositions on variations of Happy Birthday…a piece not often recognized as composed by sisters Mildred and Patty Hill.
