Sunday, May 20th. 4:00pm, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. This is the day! This is it! This is the event that everyone has been working so hard for and waiting to present. This music festival, put on by the students of Penny Lazarus Piano Studio, will include music by Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, the folk music that Bartok would have listened to while he composed in the area that then was known as Transylvania. Our students will also be performing music composed, commissioned and created just for our students by Albanian composer Alban Dhamo. We will also be making the much awaited announcement of how much our students collectively raised through practice sponsors to send music to the town where Alban and his piano teaching wife/opera singer run a music studio but have no music to teach, because there are no music publishers in all of Albania and modest income musicians do not have the international means to purchase music outside of the country. So our students have taken it upon themselves to help the music school where Alban and Erinda teach in Tirana, Albania.
